LIGHTUP ORGANIZATION (LUO)

LUO works in the areas of Clean and Inclusive Energy Access, Women’s Social and Economic Empowerment, Inclusive Reproductive Health Education, and Environmental Conservation.

Various studies and community assessments in Tanzania show that many women, youth, and marginalized groups continue to face challenges that limit their opportunities to thrive. These challenges include energy poverty, limited access to childcare support, communication barriers in health services for persons with disabilities, environmental degradation, and unstable income sources.

LUO aims to provide skills, capacity building, supportive networks, accessible information, and practical resources needed to address these challenges and improve the quality of life for communities across Morogoro and beyond.

We use community-driven approaches, partnerships, and advocacy to support sustainable development and ensure that women, youth, and persons with disabilities are meaningfully included in solutions that affect their lives.

Clean Energy Promotion

We raise awareness and provide training to reduce dependency on charcoal and firewood. Through community demonstration centers and trained facilitators, households learn and adopt cleaner and safer cooking technologies.
